Wilkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome...WHAT'S
NEW Welcome to my Funhouse! After years of surfing the Web, viewing numerous home pages ranging from the sacred to the profane, and spending countless days teaching people how to use computers - to build websites for heaven's sake - I've finally come here to add my own voice to this cosmic chorus. And oddly, it just might be the most social activity in which I've engaged for a long time. At last it is the Year 2000, and we all find ourselves not only still here, but still transfixed before our computers perusing the world through this electronic window. Like me, you might find this world arresting; huge and luminous and lonely and yet full of possibility. And, like me, you've probably wondered why we all do it; why we build websites, home pages, carve our names in the wood of this ghost forest. I honestly don't know. In fact, I'm not at all sure why I'm here. Along with everyone else, I might rail against the incongruities of life, confess my darkest sins, discourse on philosophical notions, or even trade recipes for soup. Yet, like the lead character in John Barth's "Lost in the Funhouse," I find myself instead looking for a dark, quiet corner of the Net to hunker down and practice loneliness. Wait! Before you surf off to parts unknown, let me offer this: though I'm not sure why I'm here or where I'm going, the ride might yet be great fun! Linger awhile. Click and nose around. You just might stumble onto something you find praiseworthy. (If nothing else, look for candy. Even the worst, nightmare staff meetings and church gatherings keep a stash somewhere as bribery. Also, be on the lookout for cool java apps, like this galaxy from Anfy Team.) Above all, make yourself at home. In this place, my place, you are welcome, accepted, forgiven and never, ever too late. Come back anytime. Come back often. I'm always up.
